Steve Mascaro's Voting Record

The descriptions are slightly slanted as this comes from his opponent's (Ken Ivory) site. However I find the summary helpful.

The question on this race really comes down to "Status Quo" vs. "Hardcore 10th ammendment". I see positives in both.

Status Quo: It's comfortable. Continuing to seek money on the local level to take care of our own, our seniors, our disabled, our kids is where money should properly be spent by government. Steve served on the committee to take care of the disabled, so his voting record and bills reflect that, and he has fought hard for state money to be spent locally.

Hardcore 10th Amendment: The status Quo is unsustainable. 1/2 of our state budget comes from federal dollars that are drying up as economic issues on the federal level continue to unfold. We need to get lean, mean and off federal dollars; which means a cut in services. Cutting now can save future pain, and deeper cuts later. Ken Ivory has stood by this principle even when Bush was in office.

Voting should be done based on these concepts... Status Quo, vs. States rights, and state independence. Really it comes down to a world view, if you believe that politics is working, and that things will continue as they currently are, vote for Steve Mascaro. If you believe that the system is slowly breaking, Ken Ivory is the obvious choice.
